Actor & Producer Jamal Johnson

Jamal stops by Leading with Lee Magazine to discuss his new role on award winning film "2 Wrongs" and more!

1. Jamal, have you always had the passion to become an actor?

I’ve always had the passion of being a performer. Since I was a child, I loved to perform. Whether it was through grade school dance talent shows, performing in plays, or playing football and basketball. As I became an adult, and more experienced with the art form, my love for acting matured.

2. Tell us about your new role in the award winning film "2 Wrongs"

"2 Wrongs" tells the story of a young father, Devon, and the choices he makes in order to create a better life for his daughter. I gravitated to the role on the basis of what the film depicted, and the impact of making decisions  for the good or bad.  I play the lead role of Devon, who comes from a troubled past. He’s a damaged soul, but the belief in his daughter’s future helps him.

3. Do you have any upcoming projects in the works?

I recently filmed a pilot presentation for a half hour comedy created by one of the Netflix executives. We are also in pre production of a SYFY thriller that I currently cannot disclose, but I’m looking forward to it.

4. You are an advocate for living a fit and healthy lifestyle. Can tell us how do you stay so fit?

Diet, Diet, Diet, Diet, Diet. It might sound cliche, but you are what you eat. My weekly meals consistent of the same foods. Whole grain toast, egg whites, rice, vegetable blends and chicken or fish. I have a sweet tooth, so on my cheat day I splurge on anything lemon based. That is my favorite. Lemon cakes, lemon cookies. I’m a sucker for it.

5. When you finally have time off from producing and acting, what do you like to do?

I loved to spend time with my wife and two daughters - Jordyn Milan, age 12 and Nevaeh Skye, 5 months. I’m also a reader of fiction and autobiographies.

6. What advice can you give to aspiring actors and producers who would like to make it into the entertainment industry?

My advice to all actors and producers out there is if you dream you can achieve it. Pursuing your dream will take an insurmountable amount of will and sacrifice, but the pay off will be infinitely rewarding. So never give up. Keep going. Remain the dream chaser.
