Q. Pulpit Pimping is a provocative title that immediately grabs attention, but the production carries a much deeper message about faith, family, leadership, accountability, and breaking generational cycles. What inspired you to create this story, and what did you hope audiences would take away from it beyond the title?

I knew the title Pulpit Pimping would get people’s attention, but I also knew that once people experienced the production, they would understand that the message goes much deeper than the title. This story is about faith, family, leadership, accountability, and the choices we make that can impact generations. I wanted to create something that would entertain people while also making them think. I hope that audiences leave talking about what they saw, examining their own lives, and understanding that leadership comes with responsibility. Ultimately, this is about breaking cycles and recognizing that real change begins when we are willing to have difficult conversations.

 

Q. You’ve described Pulpit Pimping as more than entertainment, and as a platform for ministry, meaningful conversation, and education. How has your faith and personal sense of purpose influenced the stories you choose to tell and the messages you want to put into the world?

​

My faith and my purpose are at the center of what I do. I believe that your gifts should be used for something greater than yourself, and storytelling gives me an opportunity to reach people in a different way. With Pulpit Pimping, I can entertain an audience, but I can also open the door to conversations about faith, accountability, relationships, family and our communities. I want my work to have substance. If someone can laugh, be entertained and then leave with something that causes them to reflect or make a positive change, then the production has accomplished something meaningful.

Q. What does “breaking cycles” mean to you personally, and what conversations do you hope this tour will inspire within families and communities?

​

Breaking cycles means recognizing patterns and circumstances that have continued for generations and making a conscious decision to create a different path forward. For me, that also means helping young people see college and higher education as possibilities, even when their circumstances may have made those opportunities feel out of reach. Through Pulpit Pimping, we are not only talking about breaking cycles; we are putting that message into action by using a portion of the proceeds to provide scholarships for students impacted by incarceration and students from disadvantaged backgrounds.

I want the Breaking Cycles Tour to encourage families to talk about education, opportunity, faith, accountability and what we can do differently for the next generation. If we can help a student get closer to college, remove even one financial barrier, or show a young person that their circumstances do not have to determine their future, then we are truly helping to break a cycle. For me, that is what this mission is about: creating opportunities today that can change families for generations to come.

Q. A portion of the proceeds from Pulpit Pimping goes toward scholarships for students impacted by incarceration and students from disadvantaged backgrounds. Why was it important for you to build community impact directly into the production, and what does creating these opportunities mean to you?

​

It was important because I did not want “breaking cycles” to only be something we said onstage. I wanted the mission to have a tangible impact. A portion of the proceeds from Pulpit Pimping is used to provide scholarships for students impacted by incarceration and students from disadvantaged backgrounds because education and opportunity can help change the direction of a young person’s life. These students should not be defined by circumstances surrounding them. Being able to use the production to help create opportunities for their futures gives this work an even greater purpose. To me, that is what community impact should look like: turning the message into action.

Q. You’ve brought together an accomplished director and cast to help bring your vision to life. What has this experience taught you about leadership, collaboration, and trusting others with something that began as your own creative vision?

​

It has taught me that having a vision does not mean you have to carry that vision alone. Collaboration is extremely important. When you have talented people who understand the purpose of the project, they can bring something to your vision that you may not have imagined when you first wrote it. Working with director Javon Johnson, along with Jarric Tucker, Danielle Jackson, Rodney Perry and the rest of the team, has reinforced the importance of trusting people to bring their own gifts to the table. Leadership is not about controlling every part of the process. It is about communicating the vision, surrounding yourself with people who believe in it and allowing everyone to contribute to making the final production stronger.

Q. With Pulpit Pimping now receiving recognition as a finalist at the 2026 Peachtree Village International Film Festival, your story is continuing to reach new audiences. As you look ahead, what do you believe God, purpose and your creative journey are preparing you to do next, and what legacy do you ultimately hope to leave through your work?

​

Being recognized as a finalist at the 2026 Peachtree Village International Film Festival is meaningful because it shows that the message is reaching beyond the stage and connecting with new audiences. I believe every opportunity is another chance to expand the purpose behind the work. I do not want to put limitations on where God can take this journey or what Pulpit Pimping can become. I want to continue creating, expanding the Breaking Cycles message and using my platform to make a difference.

​

When people look back at my work, I want the legacy to be bigger than a play, an award or a festival recognition. I want people to know that I used my creativity and my platform to open conversations, create educational opportunities, support young people and help break cycles for generations to come. If the work continues impacting lives even after the curtain closes, that is the legacy I want to leave.
